Perkins eligible for Game 6; Davis game-time decision

05/27/2010 -
New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The NBA has rescinded the second technical
foul issued to Boston Celtics center Kendrick Perkins in Game 5 on Wednesday,
meaning he is eligible for Friday's Game 6 at TD Garden versus the Orlando Magic.
Perkins was ejected with 36.1 seconds left in the second quarter on Wednesday
after reacting to a foul call. He screamed in frustration while walking away
from referee Eddie F. Rush, who still made the technical foul call.
It was Perkins' seventh technical foul of the playoffs at the time, which
triggers an automatic one-game suspension. His total is now reduced to six, so
his next technical foul will cause him to miss a game.
Perkins was also assessed a technical foul for an inadvertent elbow to Marcin
Gortat earlier in the opening half.
"Well, obviously, I'm happy about it," Boston coach Doc Rivers said. "I'm a
little disappointed that both technicals were not rescinded. I thought they
both should have been, and I'm very surprised that they're not. But I'll take
the one and hopefully we can keep working on the other one."
The Celtics lead the best-of-seven series, 3-2, which shifts back to Boston
for Game 6. Orlando has won the last two games and is looking to be the first
NBA team to climb out of an 0-3 series deficit to win a best-of-seven set.
Game 7 would be on Sunday.
Despite Perkins being eligible to play Friday, the Celtics could go into Game
6 shorthanded in the front court in their attempt to hold off Orlando's Dwight
Howard. Glen "Big Baby" Davis suffered a concussion when he was hit in the
face by an elbow from Howard in the final minute of the third quarter. Davis
stumbled to the other end of the court to join his team on offense and had to
be held up by referee Joey Crawford. Davis was still woozy and eventually
received medical attention before exiting the contest with 9.7 seconds left.
"(He) didn't have any headaches today. He had some last night, but didn't have
any today, which is a big step," Rivers said. "I guess. And I think all of it
will be a game-time decision, so we'll have to wait and see."
Rivers said swingman Marquis Daniels, who also suffered a concussion
Wednesday, wasn't doing as well as Davis. Rasheed Wallace tweaked his back
during Game 5 and Rivers said he'll also be a game-time decision.
"I would actually say right now he probably will not be ready, Rivers said of
Daniels. "But that will be a game-time decision, and Rasheed is doing better.
Was not moving well at all today, but he's doing better. He said he felt a
little bit better. We watched some film before we got on the plane today as a
group, and he couldn't sit down. So he just stretched the whole time. But he's
feeling better, and his will be a game-time decision as well."
The NBA also announced Paul Pierce's foul on J.J. Redick in the fourth quarter
was also upgraded to a Flagrant 1. Pierce pushed Redick to the floor.

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds
Will he or won't he? Now that the Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach in Wade Phillips, the big question will be: Does Terrell Owens stay with the team.
Jerry Jones continues to suggest that Terrell Owens will remain with the team.
"I've said that he's back, he's here, he's under contract," Jones said. "In the interviews I've just been through (to hire a new coach), it was very clear to me how highly he's thought of and how much of an impact he had on our offensive success."
Just to be sure though, Terrell Owens cleared out his locker and removed his name plate.
Terrell Owens was among the Cowboys most productive players this past season, catching 85 passes for 1,180 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns.
But T.O. is due a $3 million roster bonus in June, then a $5 million salary this season. Cutting him before then would save a lot of money and headaches.
Aside from the questions surrounding Terrell Owens, the oddsmakers at MySportsbook.com have concerns over starting quarterback Tony Romo's state of mind and whether he will remain a starting quarterback. It is also not known how players will adjust to new head coach, Wade Phillips.
