Ginobili paces Spurs over Lakers
Basketball Betting Lines
04/04/2010 -
Los Angeles, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Manu Ginobili scored 17 of his 32 points in
the fourth quarter as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Los Angeles Lakers
100-81, at Staples Center.
Tim Duncan added 24 points and 11 rebounds as the Spurs won their third
straight contest to move a half-game ahead of idle Portland for the seventh
playoff spot in the Western Conference. They are a half-game behind Oklahoma
City for sixth with six games left.
"It was a good win for us against the best team in the West," said Spurs coach
Gregg Popovich. "Manu has been playing All-Star basketball for the last month
and a half now. Manu has kept us together."
But the Spurs, who have secured a 13th straight playoff berth, were dealt a
blow as George Hill left the game in the first half with a sprained right
ankle and did not return.
Pau Gasol scored a season-high 32 points and had seven rebounds and six
assists for the Lakers, who fell for the third time in four games and the
first time at home in eight contests.
Kobe Bryant chipped in 22, eight boards and six assists in defeat as the
Lakers handed over home-court advantage throughout the playoffs to Cleveland
with the loss.
"We were flat from the middle of the second on," said Lakers coach Phil
Jackson. "They took away a lot of passing lanes and we got out of rhythm. It
was unfortunate for us that we couldn't get the bench going."
Both teams shot at least 50 percent in the opening quarter as the Lakers led
24-22. But the Spurs heated up in the second, outscoring LA 26-16 to take a
48-40 halftime lead.
The Spurs re-gained the lead at 29-26 after a Keith Bogans triple and pushed
the edge to eight as Ginobili came up with the steal off Bryant and drove for
the dunk with under a minute left in the opening half.
San Antonio widened the margin to 15 at 59-44 after a Jefferson running dunk,
but a pair of Gasol free throws trimmed the edge to 67-59 after three
quarters.
In the fourth, the Lakers stormed back to get within two on a Gasol putback
with 8:39 to go, but the Spurs rallied for a 13-1 run to lead at 87-72 with
five minutes left. Ginobili capped off the stretch with one of his two three-
pointers.
Game Notes
Luke Walton played nearly eight minutes in his first game back for the Lakers
since February 10 after recovering from a pinched nerve...San Antonio won for
the first time in five tries at the Lakers...The season series was tied
2-2...Richard Jefferson added 14 points and six rebounds for the Spurs...Lamar
Odom added nine points and 13 boards for the Lakers.

Sportsbook betting odds favor Europe in Ryder Cup
September 19, – Despite holding a decided edge in the all-time series, with 24 wins, 2 ties and 10 losses, Team USA is the underdog again heading into the Ryder Cup in Kidare, Ireland this weekend, according to MySportsbook.com. The Europeans have captured four of the past five editions, including their largest victory ever, an 18 ½ to 9 ½ thumping in Michigan in 2004. Current Ryder Cup betting odds favor the Europeans to continue their winning ways; they are a 4-5 bet to take the title, compared to 6-5 for the Americans.
Despite being knocked out in the first round of World Match play by Shaun Micheel, Tiger Woods is predicted to lead the US charge and be their highest point scorer for the week, with odds listed at 9-4 that he outpoints all other American players, including Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson and Chris DiMarco to name a few. Team USA has four relatively unknown players on the roster but all four are 2007 tournament winners and have posted some of season’s best performances, each earning over $1.5 million on the PGA TOUR. They include Zach Johnson, Vaughan Taylor, JJ Henry and Brett Wetterich.
The experienced European squad includes the likes of Luke Donald, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, Jose Maria Olazabal and Darren Clarke, who’s emotions will be tested after the passing of his wife to a battle with cancer. Donald and Garcia are in particularly good form and each is a 5-1 bet to lead the European squad in the points race. Donald has proven he can go head to head with Woods at a major event after a run for the $1.2 million purse at the PGA Championship. Garcia’s Ryder Cup credentials prove he’s ready for battle too.

MySportsbook.com favors Bears, Bengals, Chargers and Colts to remain perfect
LAS VEGAS , Sept. 28 - Two big match-ups of undefeated teams have fans salivating at the Week Four schedule in the NFL. The Chicago Bears stifling defense looks to provide a less than hospitable welcome to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night in a battle of two 3-0 teams in the NFC conference. In the AFC, the San Diego Chargers (2-0) head to Maryland to face the surprising Baltimore Ravens (3-0) as both try to keep pace atop the conference standings. Betting Lines makers at MySportsbook.com, online sportsbook and casino, have set the Bears as 3.5 point favorites while the Chargers are a 2.5 point bet.
Of the three remaining undefeated teams, only one, New Orleans, enters this week's game as an underdog. Despite an emotional and resounding win over Atlanta on Monday night, the Saints are a 7.5 point underdog against the struggling Carolina Panthers. Indianapolis looks to stay perfect when they face the New York Jets as a 9 point road favorite while the Cincinnati Bengals are a 6 point favorite at home to the New England Patriots.
Six teams enter the week still looking for their first win, with a seventh, Tampa Bay, on a bye week. The prospect of dropping another game would not bode well for a potential playoff run. Since 1990, just three teams -- the 1992 Chargers, 1995 Detroit Lions and 1998 Buffalo Bills -- have overcome losing their first three games of the season to earn a postseason berth. And only the Chargers managed to accomplish the feat after starting 0-4.
