Pistons aim for home-and-home sweep of Knicks

Basketball Betting Lines

01/18/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Detroit Pistons have pulled a 180 after their season- long 13-game losing streak and will aim for a fourth consecutive win against the New York Knicks on Martin Luther King Day at Madison Square Garden.

Detroit is averaging 101 points per game during the win streak and opened a home-and-home series versus the Knicks with Saturday's 94-90 triumph at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Rodney Stuckey netted 20 points and Charlie Villanueva notched 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Pistons, who got 14 points and 10 boards from Chris Wilcox.

"We got to understand that this is the NBA and the game can change really quickly on you," said Pistons guard Chucky Atkins, who had 10 points off the bench. "Teams like New York will be knocking down threes. They can score so fast that 17 or 18 points, that lead really is not big enough lead with 12 minutes to go in the game. We have to continue to play and get the game to four, five minutes and then be with a 19-point lead, then you will feel little more safe."

Richard Hamilton scored 15 in the win. In injury news for Detroit, forward Tayshaun Prince (knee) has missed four straight games and is questionable for Monday's game. Guard Ben Gordon (groin) is also listed as questionable and has been sidelined three straight games.

After today's game the Pistons, who are 4-16 on the road, will kick off a six- game homestand versus Boston, Indiana, Portland, Memphis, Miami and Orlando.

The Knicks are commencing a five-game homestand this afternoon and will entertain the Pistons, Lakers, Mavericks, Timberwolves and Raptors at MSG.

In the recent setback to Detroit, David Lee checked in with 26 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists for New York, which has lost two straight and four of its last five games. Danilo Gallinari had 27 points in defeat.

"Lack of energy, lack of focus and lack of urgency," said Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni. "I don't think the main guys that were playing came out with any kind of desire to win. It's too bad. We picked it up, obviously in the second half, start of the fourth quarter. We got good minutes from Jordan (Hill), which was good. We'll go from there and we'll see if we can get it done."

New York owns a 9-11 ledger in the Big Apple this season.

The 2009-10 season series between Detroit and New York is tied at a game apiece, while the Knicks have won three of the past five matchups between the teams.
