Cruz, Rangers continue dominance of Indians

Baseball Betting Lines

04/14/2010 - Cleveland, OH (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Nelson Cruz continued his torrid start with another home run, leading the Texas Rangers to a 6-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field.

Cruz, who hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning of Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Indians, now leads the majors with six homers for the Rangers, who have won seven straight in Cleveland and three straight overall. Josh Hamilton and Elvis Andrus each went 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Chris Davis and Matt Treanor added two hits apiece in the 15-hit attack.

Colby Lewis (2-0), starting in place of the ill C.J. Wilson, allowed two runs and three hits in 5 1/3 innings and matched a career-high with 10 strikeouts. Neftali Feliz notched his second save with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Michael Brantley had a two-run double for the Indians, who have lost five straight after a season-opening series win. Shin-Soo Choo went 2-for-3 with two walks in defeat.

Justin Masterson (0-1) lasted six innings and gave up four runs -- two earned -- on nine hits while fanning nine in the loss.

Julio Borbon, who had two hits and two RBI, opened the game with an infield single, stole second and scored on Hamilton's one-out double to left for a 1-0 Rangers lead. In the third, Andrus gave the Rangers a two-run advantage with a two-out RBI single to score Chris Davis, who doubled leading off the frame.

Texas put up two more runs in the third. Michael Young reached base when Jhonny Peralta's throw from third was off-line and sailed into the seats. Young moved to third on Hamilton's single and scored on a Vladimir Guerrero groundout. After Hamilton was caught trying to steal third, Cruz blasted a solo homer into the left-field seats for a 4-0 lead.

The Indians got back in the game in the sixth with a pair of runs. With the bases loaded and two outs, Brantley belted a Dustin Nippert pitch down the right field line. Brantley was awarded a ground-rule double after fan interference, although a third run may have crossed the plate if play was allowed to continue.

Cleveland threatened again in the seventh by putting runners on the corners with one out, but Peralta grounded into an inning-ending double play. Borbon added a two-run single in the eighth to stretch Texas' lead to four, and the Indians did not threaten in the final two innings.
